Melinda Webb has been a Doula for over 8 years, helping couples and families welcome in their baby. Continuity of care is provided with hands on support. As a Doula, Melinda provides non-medical support from 38 weeks of pregnancy, and is on call 24/7.
A Doula accompanies a woman in labour to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. She will draw on her knowledge and experience to provide emotional support, physical comfort and the information you need to make informed decisions as they arise in labour. As a Doula Melinda provides reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labour progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning, acupuncture and acupressure and other techniques for comfort.
I learnt more from Melinda than my GP and Obstetrician combined. Melinda helped me understand the changes to my body throughout my pregnancy, provided valuable insight into how my baby was developing, preparing me for labour and birth. Before visiting Melinda, I was very unwell with morning sickness & migraines and not enjoying my pregnancy very much. She not only eased my symptoms but also gave me the emotional support to help prepare me for the arrival of our baby. I loved chatting with her during my appointments and learning tips and tricks for labour, birth, and life with a newborn. Melinda normalised the entire process and made me feel in control, even when things went a little pear shaped (irritable uterus, possible induction etc). All went as planned and we could not have done it without Melinda.
“I was fortunate enough to have Melinda Webb as my doula in October 2016. Mel was a lifesaver, and made this birthing experience a breeze compared with my first. I was able to relax knowing Mel was intently monitoring the situation and was aware of what my wishes were. I felt guided and supported throughout the birth.
When my partner was unsure of what to do to help me, Mel gave suggestions and encouraged him to assist. Mel’s presence was never over bearing, or invasive. She has the perfect combination of skills, and a wealth of experience to assist through every challenge.
Without her guidance I don’t think I could have achieved the birth I wanted. I highly recommend Mel to anyone looking for support during the birthing journey. We are very grateful for Mel’s assistance in the birth of our baby girl.”
