As a Doula Melinda provides reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, making suggestions for your labour progress, and helping with relaxation, positioning, acupuncture and acupressure and breathing techniques for comfort.
Call to book a free half hour consultation, where we have an informal meeting, with no obligations. This gives us a chance to meet and chat about your needs, you can see if you would like me to support you during your birth. We can then set up a date if you feel like going ahead, for our first offical meeting.
We meet at least two or three times prior to your estimated due date. Building a connection between myself, you and the birth expereince we will share together. The meetings take place over a time in your third trimester, or we can start working earlier if that suits.
I learnt more from Melinda than my GP and Obstetrician combined. Melinda helped me understand the changes to my body throughout my pregnancy, provided valuable insight into how my baby was developing, preparing me for labour and birth. Before visiting Melinda, I was very unwell with morning sickness & migraines and not enjoying my pregnancy very much. She not only eased my symptoms but also gave me the emotional support to help prepare me for the arrival of our baby. I loved chatting with her during my appointments and learning tips and tricks for labour, birth, and life with a newborn. Melinda normalised the entire process and made me feel in control, even when things went a little pear shaped (irritable uterus, possible induction etc). All went as planned and we could not have done it without Melinda.
“I was fortunate enough to have Melinda Webb as my doula in October 2016. Mel was a lifesaver, and made this birthing experience a breeze compared with my first. I was able to relax knowing Mel was intently monitoring the situation and was aware of what my wishes were. I felt guided and supported throughout the birth.
When my partner was unsure of what to do to help me, Mel gave suggestions and encouraged him to assist. Mel’s presence was never over bearing, or invasive. She has the perfect combination of skills, and a wealth of experience to assist through every challenge.
Without her guidance I don’t think I could have achieved the birth I wanted. I highly recommend Mel to anyone looking for support during the birthing journey. We are very grateful for Mel’s assistance in the birth of our baby girl.”
